Newsletter for February 27 - March 2

Another long weekend!  Hope you all stayed warm and safe.

We will take our spelling test on Lesson 24 (review words) on Monday, February 27.  Also, any students who chose to wait to say their memory work should  be prepared to say the 7th Commandment with its meaning on Monday.

We will not start a new spelling lesson this week.  For memory, students should study the 8th Commandment with its meaning for this Thursday, March 2.

If you have any more Box Tops, please send them in on Monday, February 27 - our class would love to win the pizza party!

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: If you are attending our school’s Gala on March 3rd, there will be a very special item you can bid on!  In the silent auction portion, there will be one chaperone spot for the Lincoln Field Trip.  This is the one way you can guarantee you will get to go with your child on this awesome field trip.  Don’t worry, though!  If you aren’t able to be at the Gala or don’t win the item, there will be five chaperone spots available – these will be chosen through a drawing of all parents interested in attending (the drawing will be held later in March).

Newsletter for February 21-24

What a beautiful day!  It is really hard to believe that it is mid-February in Nebraska.  We had a great field trip last week!  Check our class Twitter account: https://twitter.com/4senechal for some pictures.

This week, spelling is Lesson 24 - a review lesson.  We will be doing several activities in class to study the words, and students can use the list on page 112 in their spelling books for practice.  I will choose 25 of the 50 words listed for Friday's test.

Memory: Seventh Commandment (with its meaning) - Students may say memory on Thursday, like normal, but I will also give students the option to say it on Friday since I did not post a newsletter over the weekend.

We will have our next math test this Thursday, February 23.  As usual, we will review in class, and students will bring home a practice test to use for studying.

I hope you all enjoyed your 4-day weekend!

Notes for February 13-16

Due to the shorter week, Valentine's party, and field trip, we will not have spelling or memory work for this coming week!

Our Valentine's party will be in the afternoon on Tuesday, February 14.  Students are welcome to bring valentines for their classmates - I just ask that they bring one for each student in the class (23).  Also, some of our specials teachers, aides, office staff, and volunteers would probably love to receive a few valentines - these include Mrs. Merten, Mrs. Kuntz, Mrs. Miller, Mr. Domsch, Mrs. Rohde, and Ms. Nagel.  There is no obligation, it's just a great chance to really "share the love".

**If you volunteered to bring something for our Valentine Care Kits (http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0d4fa9af23a13-4thgrade), please remember to send those items on or before February 14.  Thank you!**

Our field trip to the Omaha World Herald and Spaghetti Works is this coming Thursday, February 16.  Students should wear regular uniforms and will not need to bring a lunch (we will eat at Spaghetti Works).
